Mice:
If you have a problem with mice, cheese is not always the best product to place in a trap. They like foods high in protein and fat, so peanut butter, chocolate, and meat are good alternatives. However, make sure the portions you put on the trap are not too high - this is because they can nibble the food without setting the trap off.

Fleas:
For fleas, mint leaves are a natural repellent, so if you soak these with water and spray your dog’s bed, it can prevent this pest from being a nuisance to your animals.

Rats & Mice:
If you keep any pet food or rubbish outside, make sure it cannot be eaten through by rats or mice.
Generally keeping your house clean will also help deter pests from causing you problems.

Insect spray or even hair spray can help kill some insects, but you will need a professional to get rid of the problem at its root source.
